Virtual Adepts, Reality Hackers.

Introduction.

Reality Hackers (also known as: 'Reality Coders' or 'Reality Crackers') is a subgroup of Virtual Adepts, computer-oriented magicians in Mage: the Ascension roleplaying game.

The Reality Hackers are a faction of the Virtual Adepts that focuses its efforts on the transformation of our current reality. They are one of the principal contributors to the project of Reality 2.0.


Definitions.

'Reality', according to philosophy, is 'everything that exists'. More than only physical objects, there are other things that exist as well. From a friendship between two humans, to existence of prejudices of certain people toward something.

'Hacking' is doing something that is 'not according to design'. Reality changes often defy and go beyond the initial designs of politicians, scientists, etc.


Reality Modelling & Vulnerability Analysis.

I think that similar to more mundane (non-magicians) computer hackers, the reality hackers analyze their target (reality in this case) for weak, vulnerable points then exploit these to gain access and read/create/modify/remove that target's parts. One of such 'weakness in reality' is that many human beings believe in power of magick that can change reality, and belief has great power. Thus, reality can be affected by the use of magick.

I think that reality hackers create 'reality models', using many approaches to modelling the whole reality and/or it's parts. Then, using computer sciences as tools, models are analyzed and 'weak points' can be found. Sometimes even a small change makes the big difference, and/or make other changes possible and/or easier to execute.

I think that supercomputers can be useful in skilled hands (supercomputers & data centers have uses in fields of artificial intelligence and in creating other large models), but knowledge of computer sciences, programming, hacking and magick are basics, are far more important tools in the reality hacker's arsenal.

I think that even the 'more mundane' computer hackers/programmers/related can significiantly change the reality, just by doing their work. It seems that reality is vulnerable to changes created by software services available in the internet.

I think that everyone - no matter their occupation - can change the reality, but some occupations have more power over reality than others. Sad as it is, one can say that some jobs are more meaningful than others.


Metaphors.

My friend once destribed Virtual Adepts as magicians who use computers to 'code programs for stealing apples'.

... is it about stealing fruit(s) from paradise-garden's tree, or is it about hacking macintosh computers to steal control over them?

... or both?

Stealing apples is against God's will - as any stealing is.

Many think that changing Reality is defying God's will as well.

... ;)





How Reality Hackers change Reality?

Buddhists often say that 'Space is Information''.

One can perceive that every atom, electron, ... , or lack of such at a given coordinates is information.

By changing this information, one can change state of Space at given coords.

Space is at least part of Reality, by changing Space one changes Reality as well.

In theory - if computer is connected to Space - programs written on such computer can transform that information, can transform Space.

However, Virtual Adepts usually do not use coords in spellcasting, they use symbols related with objects transformed by their code. Reality is more than physical objects after all. It's use of Correspondence, one of ideas in Mage: thue Ascension.

Virtual Adepts can change not only quantum objects (either individual quantum object or quantum objects in larger group(s)) with their Magick. Examples are: Manipulating Thoughts in Mind, Aligning perceptions to see Spirit World, etc. These uses can be perceived as high-abstraction-level instructions.

Anything can be an object, from physical objects to mind and it's state, to thoughts, to feelings, or even to objects used in statistical analysis. Symbols can represent ideas and objects as well.

Can everything be reduced to mind perceiving objects in space - trying to see itself? Buddhist Wisdom tries to explore these ideas since time that has no beginning nor end.

... coords can be perceived as a symbol as well.


How to connect Computer to Space?

Computers can be connected with Space by - for example - symbols on Virtual Adept's computer's desktop screen.

Symbols can be images, or whatever representing ideas that connect computer to the Space.

Creative Visualization, Reality Changing Tool.

Introduction.

We are Minds separated by illusions of ego.

When ego is defeated, we are not separated anymore, we are One Mind, we are almost or fully the Buddha - connected even with those unenlightened, even if they perceive barriers still.

Universe is filled with Energies, subtler than physical, spiritual energies.

Subtler energies affect physical energies and matter.

Universe wishes to fulfill our wishes, some call it God-Force.

Universe acts through us.


Tools.

Imagination, Visualization, the Inner Vibration in Mind, is a way of interacting with Reality, what we think we become.

By changing ourselves, we change Reality - if only by our efforts to do it.


Creative Imagination is Magickal tool, may it be idea, feeling or visualized image in Mind.

Once created, it might be empowered - for example with power of positive affirmations.

That way we change, Reality changes as well.


How to Imagine?

1. Think of something simple, as if it already happened.

Either idea or event, for example: 'My apartment is clean and nice, fragrant, pure energetically and renovated'.

If it's event, relax and let imagine yourself being part of it.

To create image, it's nice to paint it or draw it first, or wish so it appears in mind.

2. Relax Your body and mind.

3. Count from 10 to 1, thinking, letting imagine. Each breath and counted number relaxes you, think of what you wish to visualize after each breath.

4. Return to the imagination often, focus on it often.

5. Empower with positive affirmations, or send positive energy different way.

Affirm without room for disbelief, and make sure it's pleasant outcome.

For example: 'Thanks to clean and fragrant apartment, i can look nice and smell fragrant - bad smells no longer stick to my clothing. Thanks to this i can succeed in Love and in Career'.


Outcome.

That way, you can believe a change is possible, dispel doubts - no matter if they are caused by black magick trauma of brainwashing or by other causes, you can change Yourself, you can change Reality.

Universe will conform to Your Will, You will Manifest / Realize / what you wish to achieve.

Reality is a Lie.

i think it fits well with a poem i wrote years ago.

i made a wish in my mind to awaken, but don't know how it'll manifest as of yet.

i did candle magick trick as well.

i really should buy Spellworking Course, but i'll have money for that next year, when i'll go working.

... thanks for inspiring me anyway ... as reality tries to turn me away from The Magick too often.

Modern & Practical VR.

Introduction.

VR is Virtual Reality.

Virtual means apparent, non-real, or non-real yet.

Virtual Adepts use VR Goggles, an fairly old technology that since few of last years goes through rapid growth.


Modern Way.

VR Goggles are devices that when put on head allow to see Virtual Worlds in three dimensions.

Head movements are detected & a vision field changes, moves.

There are costly VR Goggles as Oculus Rift for example, but there are also cheaper solutions that hold certain advantages as well.

'Cardboard VR' is a term for using either a cardboard box or a well made holder for the Smartphone, a modern computer in itself.

Screen is split in two parts, one for each eye. Smartphone communicates wirelessly with computer who serves data to a Smartphone that visualizes that data, for each eye. Smartphone serves gyroscope signals to a Computer as neccessary. This can be a quite elegant, cheap, modern & efficient solution for VR Visualization.

Later in this article i'll post details of how it works in practice, when i can ... as well as at least a few of the less obvious benefits of using VR Goggles on a Virtual Adept's Magickal Way.

... my VR Box arrived (on 19.08.2016), still waiting for a Smartphone with Android OS, Gyroscope, WiFi & 3G Internet hardware however.

Once it arrives, VR Goggles set will be complete.

i'll use Trinus VR software for Android OS & PC, perhaps more as well. It's commercial, has price ... but has a free version as well. Works with iPhone as well, even if not everything is supported.

update (02/09/2016): a smartphone arrived already, i'll write more as i test it properly with VR & when i can; i need more than one day for that, perhaps much more as well.

Reality Aspects' Preconditions.

Introduction.

For as long as preconditions of a Reality Aspect(s) hold, that Aspect(s) of Reality exist.

When these preconditions cease to hold, that Aspect(s) of Reality cease to exist, unless there are other Reality Aspect's preconditions that act as 'replacements'.

Certain Aspects of Reality might also be preconditions of other Reality's Aspects, or might be preconditions of other Reality's Aspects' demise.


Yesod.

'Many Yesod correspondences reinforce this notion of a foundation, of something which lies behind, supports and gives shape to phenomenal reality'.

The idea of a foundation suggests that there is a substance which lies behind physical matter and 'in-forms it' or 'holds it together', something less structured, more plastic, more refined and rarified, and this 'fifth element' is often called aethyr, a form of spirit-energy.

Reality Shaping in Mage: the Ascension.



Reality Shaping.

1. Spiritual Energy called here (& not only here) - Quintessence - is 'sourced' using the 'Prime Sphere', associated with 'Religious Faith',
2. Quintessence fills 'Patterns' (Forces, Life, Matter),
3. Quintessence in it's new form is focused in & affects the 'World of Spirit',
4. ... then Physical World's changes follow, Earth's Physical Reality is defined by 'World of Spirit'.


'Conception'.

... is the first step, when an idea is 'born' in Mind & when an 'act of will' is made to make it a part of Reality.


'Perception'.

... refers to a moment when it's done & noticeable in a 'Real World'.

Spiritual World.

There are many Spiritual Worlds.

By 'worlds', i understand something alike the 'world of ideas', associated with a certain mind-sets, perhaps more.

Spiritual Worlds are associated with Religions or other.

Spiritual Energies use many names, depending on what mind-set is associated with them.

Quintessence or AEther is Spiritual Energy of Classical World, having it's roots in Ancient Greece.

Akasa (or Akasha) is Spiritual Energy of the East, related with Buddhism, perhaps more.

Mage's Reality Model.

it's a part of 'Mage: the Ascension' Way.


Reality Models.

in 'Computer Sciences' there are often 'Reality Models' considered.

'Model of Reality' is a simplification of 'Reality'.

we consider only a limited number of 'Reality's Aspects', ignoring the rest.

then we can play with 'Reality' using the tools described in this a 'Model' ... rest affects it as well, but it's mostly beyond us, wo do not care too much anyway.

Spiritual & Physical, Beings & Phenomena.

... read a little more of 'Mage: the Ascension' book, seems that reality model presented in this a Book is divided between 'Spiritual Beings & Phenomena', and between 'Physical Beings & Phenomena'.

as a 'cause of existence' of 'Spiritual' & 'Physical', the 'Quintessence' fills 'Patterns', the 'Spiritual Reality' changes.

'Physical Reality Changes' follow the 'Spiritual Reality Changes', with 'Spiritual Reality' being 'Truer' than 'Physical Reality'.

'Physical' World is divided into 'Energy', 'Matter' & 'Life' ... other aspects of it are mostly ignored, not represented in this a model.

'Matter' is 'Energy Form', 'Life' consists of 'Energy' as well ... so 'Reality' is 'Spiritual' & 'Physical' only.

... there's 'Mind' considered too, so in this model 'Phenomenon' with 'Mind' is a 'Being', either 'Spiritual Being' or 'Physical Being' ... or both at once.


About Psyche.

Psyche is a Greek word for Mind-Soul.


About Soul & Spirit.

There are many explainations about the differencies between spirit & soul.

One is that soul is immaterial spirit in material body, therefore body with spirit makes soul.

Another explaination is that immaterial aspect of human being consists of mind, spirit & soul; in this a model, if we put mind aside - the spirit is the immaterial part of a human that is common to many, while soul is that part of immaterial living in body that is unique to each of the humans.

Yet another - the one i am most familiar with - explaination is that both spirit & soul consist of thoughts & feelings, arising from space, playing, returning to space (dissolving). it's just a Mind's free play with ego's ideas that many consider very important.


About Mind.

... about a 'Mind' Sphere in 'Mage: the Ascension's' simple reality model.

there are two factions,

first believes in 'Mind's Independence', that 'Reality' is a 'Mind's Play', more or less.
second believes that 'External Reality' holds the 'Minds', with 'Minds' being a part of that 'Reality'.

i think that 'non-dualistic approach' is possible, siding with 'Mind's Independence' of course,

i can see that it's a 'Reflection' of the differences between 'Inner Religions' vs 'External Religions' of the
'Real World', that resulted in these two factions.

these factions mostly associate with the 'Spheres' of either 'Mind' or 'Prime'.


Magick: A Mind - Spirit interactions.

if we assume:
- that Magick is 'Act of Will',
- that Willpower is a quality of the Mind,
- that Thinking is interaction with Thoughts, that appear in Mind,
- that Feeling is interaction with Feelings, that appear in Mind,
- that Spiritual Energies (Spirit, Soul) appear in Mind, that Mind can interact with Spiritual World(s),
- that Physical World changes follow changes in the Spiritual World,

... then we can see how Magick can occur both in Mind & in the External world, if there's any.


A Potential Reality vs Physical Reality.

There's a war in Spiritual World, World of Ideas plays a part.

Quintessence, Spiritual Energy, Causes of Reality's Aspects', Ideas - are used to form something into an existence despite disbeliefs, competitions, lack of funds for ambitious projects & opposition's interference.

As soon as something is ready, emerging in a full form in a spiritual world - then can be realized, materialized, manifested, documented, brought into physical reality - that's how physical world changes follow changes in a spiritual world.

In short words - once a fight in a spiritual world reaches 'critical mass', something is mature & spell woven in spirit reaches the physical reality, changing it possibly for a longer while.
