Silver/Amethyst Athamé.

My new Athamé (Magickal Knife for directing energies).

It's blade is 9 cm long, and whole Athamé is 17.5 cm long.

-=- Silver Athamé with Amethysts. -=-

-=- (Colours on image altered by lighting; for original images on Etsy.com: click here) -=-

My roleplaying character, sorcerer named: 'Attentus', used similar one, he had silver Athamé at his left hip.

This Athamé knife (as on image above) is made of silver alloy with amethysts, and violet/purple was colour used by Wethrillina Aeliath, Attentus's witch-lover.

/ In witchcraft, the colour of purple symbolizes: Power, Color of Royalty and Spiritual Authority, also associated with sexual pleasure. /

Attentus, on the other hand used Black and Silver - the colours of the Buddhist Protector's. Attentus was wearing Black Magician's robe with a touch of Silver embroidery, and had silver Athamé at his left hip. He was snobbish gentleman too.

He meditated for spells in the zazen position (Sitting on heels, as is practiced both in Martial Arts and in Zen Buddhism as well).

/ It is curious that in Buddhism, Black & Silver are on a cover of the booklet: 'Summoning Protector. Black Coat.' But with help of Wethrillina, Attentus's choice of colours was Black & Silver before I knew that buddhist protector Mahakala uses these colours too. The Protector summoned is known as: 'Mahakala', translated as: 'Great Black'. I think that 'Mahakala' can be perceived as either: 'Protecting Energy', 'Buddhist Protector', or/and: 'Wrathful Deity'. /

--
So, my new Athamé knife is like Attentus's Athamé, but with a nice magickal, feminine aspect added to it. :)

/ It is long, so it is mostly a masculine tool. It has purple/violet, round amethysts so it has feminine aspect as well. I think it unifies masculine energies with feminine energies, and can be used to direct these in an act of spellcasting. Union of masculine and feminine energies is more than energies of a man and of a woman taken separately. /

-=- ... in a polish language version. -=-
I am styling myself as Attentus, want to look like him... it's a part of style in Arts that i am creating, style named: 'Art of Magick & Light'.

Art of Magick & Light is a style that uses symbolics, wisdom and lore of the Wicca/Witchcraft.

During one of Attentus/Wethrillina conversations, Attentus admitted that he craves power to protect Wethrillina, his love.

I also want to use my Athamé (and other tools) to protect a Buddhist woman I love, as well as our friends, teachers and gurus, as long as I have permission to do it.

--
One curiosity about Athamé is that it is never meant to draw blood. If it does, it loses it's magickal properties forever. And it works like it never had such powers before. So spells cast using it in past, cease working.

... but what about using Athamé to cast offensive spell without piercing skin or drawing blood in the direct contact?

--
I'll need to consecrate this Athamé knife as well.

I was advised in Phyllis Curott's facebook Wicca/Witchcraft group to use method described in 'Witch Crafting' book by Phyllis Curott, in the 'Potions and Notions' chapter.

Athamé, Black Fang.

A Poem.

en:

A Black Fang, an Old Fantasy Poem.

Commentary.

This is Spiritual Weapon for Truth, of Light & Shadow.

it wields name of Black Fang, as well.

... a while ago i wished so it has power to open veins at a distance, to draw blood without physically piercing skin - without losing it's Athamé properties.

... with a spell: 'Cut of Athamé'.

... i think it has greatest powers with Mist.

... it has many other powers & uses, both dark & light.

... it's already consecrated tool, my most important of my magickal tools.

... it's not for sale, but perhaps i can prepare similar tools for others for a price.

... these will be meaningful & powerful, fascinating - so consequences of misuse & mistakes are terrible, mostly karmicly & magically.

... Athamé is a knife, the Holy Tool of Mahakala, Buddhist Protector Deity.

... Knife is similar to Cross, either holy or luciferian / reversed / .

... it has spider symbolics, studying spiders' mind is Buddhist practice.

... it has uses in the Wiccan Great Rite, for which i am not ready yet.

Athamé of Light & Shadow.

Had insights.

My most important of Magickal Tools is Athamé afterall.

After initial investment in Pentacle's Protection - as is wise to be safe at first - i wish to catch up in Athamé development.

i am not so defensive, i wish for initiative in Spiritual Struggle, but protection is almost as important.

Best Protection is excellent & wise offense, afterall.

Mist is Holy, so Chalice should follow (Air & Water is Mist, Athamé is related with Air. Chalice is Related with Water).

There's immense Power & Wisdom in Mist, i think & feel.

i wish my tools of Light & Shadow to develop in Light faster than in Shadow, to be holier, to be more clear, pure, fascinating & dangerously seductive.

Had insights, fought in mind - against a Satanist Sectarian Priest who raped young boy.

He's wise in Church's Wisdom, both Holy & Satanic, more powerful than me as well.

He's in jail.

But i am not alone, and i use Truth as Spiritual Weapon.

Long story short, we prefer to not kill evil - instead to make them transform karma for better, torturing if needed. They would reincarnate anyway, and be as evil as before or worse, anyway.

So i came to terms with him that i'll help him get out of jail if he transforms his karma, uncurses raped boy and protects kids from rapes.

There's lot of work to do, but in jail he has lot of time to pray & suffer.

He agreed to serve Buddha & Church for getting out, to serve loyally as well-trained dog.

Which church he will serve, and how often which - will depend on how both sides fight. Under Buddha he won't rape and behave anyway, i think.

i hope this will motivate Holy Catholic Church more than Unholy Satanic Churches.

He will be reality changing dog, still more evil than good.

He will go to hell many times, reincarnating many times, then eventually will go to heaven as well - again not permanently.

Then he will visit Hells and Heavens, we'll see what's after.

i wish him Enlightenment.

'Dog will come out, anyway'.

A Spell - Poem of the Knife.

-=- Hindrances - Severing Knife. -=-

Raven's Eyes, Awaken!
Cloak of Mists, Wisdom Awaken!
The Knife, the Ace of the Swords, the Spiritual Weapon for Truth, Awaken!
Discerning Wisdom & Awareness, Awaken!
Athamé, Awaken!
Raven's Eyes, Awaken!

Blessed be.

-=- Explaination. -=-

This a spell-poem is a Low Magick, it's title is 'Hindrances - Severing Knife'.

It warns against troubles & dangers - as a Raven, a flying shadow, with it's eyes,
It is quite a tricky spell, as is enveloped by the 'Cloak of Mists', wisely at that,
It discerns threats & blessings, it Protects with the Discerning Wisdom & Awareness, for Truth,
It directs psychic, enlightening & magickal energies,
It's masculine aspect, affecting thoughts mostly, to sever all that hinders, to Protect,

It blesses or curses as well, depending on intent toward us.

Uses of the Athamé.

Athamé.

What is Athamé?

Athamé is a ceremonial blade, generally with a black handle. It is the main ritual implement or magical tool among several used in the religion of Wicca, and is also used in various other neopagan witchcraft traditions. A black-handled knife called an athamé appears in certain versions of the Key of Solomon, a grimoire originating in the Middle Ages.

Main uses of the Athamé.

The athamé's primary use is to channel and direct psychic energy.

The ritual drawing of the boundary of the magic circle – also known as 'casting the circle' – is usually done with either a ritual sword or an athamé, in traditional coven practice.

After the casting, the athamé is the tool traditionally used to invoke the elemental guardians of the four directions (also termed 'calling the quarters'), typically by drawing invoking pentagrams at each quarter.

As a masculine principle, the black-handled athamé is often used in combination with the chalice, as feminine principle, evoking the act of procreation, as a symbol of universal creativity. The athamé represents the magical element of air (or fire depending on a tradition), associated with the Sun and the Horned God; while the chalice represents the magical element of water, associated with the Moon and the Goddess. The union of the two then represents the union of God and Goddess, male and female, sun and moon. The marriage of the Sun and Moon—the union of opposites—is an ancient idea in alchemy; and the hieros gamos or sacred marriage of god and goddess is an even more ancient idea in pagan religions. (For example, in ancient Greece—from whence the term 'hieros gamos' comes.) This rite is done by dipping the athamé into the chalice to bless the wine. This is a symbol of the Great Rite in Wiccan rituals.

Athamé Consecrated Well.

... on a night of a New Moon & slightly before,

i did a second attempt at Athamé Consecration Rite.

... heeding the lessons of previous time's imperfections,

i made sure they're not repeated again.

... previous energies were purified,

remaining ingredients of a Rite used to bless surroundings as well.

i noticed & perfected a few of other details as well:
- i've lighted a Fire candle first, then incense of Air - because Fire is associated with Absolute, & i've asked Lord Buddha for the power to consecrate an Athamé a tool;
- this a Rite proceeded counter-clockwise (East, North, West, South) as if undoing time & errors, purifying energies as well; reverse of this ordering (East, South, West, North) is/will be strong & significiant as well, as it starts with East - Air (Wind) & ends with North - Fire (associated with Absolute), both male aspects;
- starting slightly before New Moon gives us time to purify & discard energies of old, to disappear with the moon of old times.

- After a Rite -

Lord Buddha's image,
Athamé & ingredients gathered together.

A first Athamé Consecration attempt.

A Rite is complete, with a few of smaller of errors.
... it's not a fail, it's just imperfect.

had issues with focus:
- to be sure that parts of a Rite are done exactly three times,
- to be sure that a certain wording is exact.

a few of other minor issues as well:
- a way of placing & reaching for Athamé at beginning of a Rite ... so it's not behind me as i turn east first,
- a way of sprinkling water on a tool should be better.

... will this a Rite be repeated next new moon?
we shall see, perhaps it will.

... is my Athamé a Consecrated tool already, then?
yes, even if not perfectly.

Last of a Moon Lights', Preparing for Athamé Consecration.

... current moon is waning, under 20% full.

... new moon is time for new starts, then nurturing, full moon's completion, reaping & sharing, then a veneration of Old Crone's Wisdom occurs.

... it's when i should focus on learning Wisdom, both Magickal & Buddhism's, as well as a mundane wisdoms.

last parts of the moonlight is also a time for reading, studying, pondering, thinking & deciding which aspects of the Way are not so beneficial anymore to continue, to neglect in preparation for new ways.

first Athamé Consecration attempt will happen on a new moon, probably during night in a 1-2 days after tonight.

... if neccessary, more attempts will follow, purifying energies of imperfect consecration as well.

1-3 attempts per new new moon, in a lunar month's cycles.

Star Metal Knife, Athamé.

      'Aristotle added aether as the quintessence, rationalizing that whereas Fire, Earth, Air, and Water were earthly and corruptible, the stars were eternal ('aether' is based on Greek for eternity) and were thus not made out of any of the four elements but rather a heavenly substance.';

... questions & ideas that appear in my mind:

- is Athamé a star metal knife ?
- can it hold spiritual energies for using when needed or neccessary ?
- is it beautiful, as stars ?
- is it aligned with a noble energies of Air, Earth, Fire & Water ?
- can it's beauty, as well as star matter reform once gone, after a time ?

Witches' Tools of the Trade; Athamé.

A Spider Athamé.

Tools of the Trade.

Witches sometimes cast spells using only the power of their minds or their words. Charms and incantations, for instance, are spoken spells. All they require is that words be articulated - aloud or silently. However, over the centuries, certain tools have become important components of spell-casting and witchery. Many are familiar to the general public, others may be less familiar.

(...)

Not all witches use all of the tools that are closely identified with witches and witchcraft.

(...)

It must be pointed out, however that if a witch of practicioner uses any tool consistently in his or her magical work, that tool, whatever it is, is transformed into a magical tool.

Athamé.

An athamé, (pronounced a-tham-ay or ath-may) is a ritual knife. Symbols, such as runes or sigils, may be engraved or painted onto the handle. It is usually black-handled, and has a double-edged steel blade. Whether that blade is sharp or dull is irrelevant because the athamé is not intended as a cutting tool and is never used to draw blood.

The athamé is among the standard tools of Wicca. Although the use of ritual knives, daggers, or swords is common to many magical traditions, the name and concept of the athamé is almost exclusively Wiccan or Wiccan-influenced. Among many other uses, an athamé is used to cast ritual circles and direct magical energy.

-- paraphrased from 'The Weiser Field Guide to witches...' by Judika Illes.

My Athamé.

With a black blade and handle, this athame uses the powerful symbolism of the spider, representing the arachnid’s guile, ingenuity, and predatory aspects.

5 1/2” - 2 1/2” blade.

Had insights explaining that Spider can be spelled as 'Spi-rit ther-e'.

Athamé is associated with element of Air, but some disagree.

Air Element has power over thoughts & communication, hacking & ESP included, among other ... i do not wish to reveal more for now.

It can support sensing threats in Mind as well, as with Raven' Eyes a spell.

It can support in protecting spiders, imparts abilities of guile, so it's subtle & can misdirect, confuse.

It can support in catching thoughts as a prey, ... for it's predatory.

It can support in caught thought analysis & discovery as well, it's ingenious & intelligent as well.

Athamé Consecration.

Reasons.

there are three basic reasons for taking tools through the process of consecration and empowerment tools.
these are:

  • it removes any left over negative residue or energies that have attached to the item from previous users or places,
  • it melds your positive energy with that of the Universe to bring divinity,
  • it instills this energy into the object for positive purposes,
  • the act of ritually consecrating your tools also allows you to easily gain a strengthened and calmed attitude toward yourself and your work, allowing you to focus your energies without constraint.

When to perform Consecration Ritual?

there are many opinions as to which times are best to perform a tool consecration ritual. as is the case with many rituals, these times are generally related to moon phases. two common times are:

  • during the new moon – this time represents new beginnings, new projects and new life paths.
  • during the full moon – at this time the energies of the full moon may be incorporated into the ritual. the energies radiated a few days preceding the full moon can also be used to cleanse your tools.

Consecrating With the Elements.

as it is quite apparent, the elements generally play such an important role in the life of a practicing one. cleansing and consecrating tools using the elements of the four cardinal directions brings to your tools the attributes associated with each of them.

before we can consecrate our tools we need to gather a few items to represent each of the four elements of earth, air, fire and water. the following item are commonly used:

  • salt or soil – earth,
  • incense – air,
  • candle flame – fire,
  • dish of water - water.

below i have provided a brief explanation of the attributes associated with each of the elements, their direction, and the way in which i generally use the elements to cleans and consecrate my tools.

note that in which direction you place the elements and which attributes you associate with them is entirely up to you. these are my own personal preferences.

Air – in the east – creativity, thought processes, inspiration, new beginnings, intellect.

turn east, pass the tool three times through the smoke of the incense while saying:

'by the eternal power of Air, be purified. be dedicated to purity,
that all goals you help me to achieve may be for the harm of none and for the good of all beings.'

Fire – in the north – purification, courage, creativity, absolute (absolute means Buddha or God(s)).

turn north, pass the tool through the flame of the candle three times while saying:

'by the eternal power of Fire, be purified. be dedicated to desire,
that all goals you help me to achieve may be for the harm of none and for the good of all beings.'

Earth – in the west – fertility, strength, stability, growth, foundations, material abundance, healing.

turn west, tap the tool on the salt or soil three times while saying:

'by the eternal power of Earth, be purified.
be dedicated to steadfastness, that through you,
my will be achieved with harm to none and for the good of all beings.'

Water – in the south – intuition, emotions, inner self, cleansing of all things, reflection, tides of life.

turn south, with your fingers sprinkle water on the tool three times while saying:

'by the eternal power of Water, be purified.
be dedicated to emotion, that in complete harmony shall
you be used for the harm of none and for the good of all beings.'

Empowering Your Tools.

there are as many ways to empower your ritual tools, as there are people on this earth. empowering your tools makes them sacred. any combination of the following can be used, or you may feel more comfortable with another method.

  • Empowering with Symbols.

etching and engraving symbols onto your tools and personalizing them using your own creativity is a form of empowering. although it may not seem directly apparent you are melding your personal energies with the tool to create a personal bond between you and your tool. your tools will obtain much more sentimental value when you have used your own creative energies to personalize your tools.

  • Using Your Personal Power.

this is a more direct method of empowering your tools. it is when you are working directly with the energies themselves and your intent is perfectly clear, to meld your energies with the tool.

hold your Athamé (or hand if the tool being consecrated is your Athamé) above the tool and visualize an orb of silver light forming in your chest. concentrate all of your energies into this ball as it increases in size. once you feel you have built up enough energy begin to direct it up into your projective arm and down into your hand/Athamé. visualize the energy encasing the tool, forming a protective shield around it. see the energy sinking into the tool and becoming a part of it.

you have used your own personal energy empower the tool directly.

  • Calling on the Power of the Absolute, of Universal Energy.

the next way of empowering tools that I wish to present is by asking for the powers of Absolute, the Lord or Lady to meld with the tool. we do this in much the same way as empowering with our own personal energies but this time we source those energies from the Absolute, the Universal Energy.

after empowering tools one should generally speak an affirmation to seal in the energies placed into the tool. these words can be ad lib or something like the following:

'by the Free Will of all
and with harm to none
as i will
so shall it be done!'

Dedication/Presentation to the Absolute.

it is my choice to who i present and dedicate my tools to first. i chose Buddha as first, then Wiccan Godess as second.

i'll do it by sitting before Buddha's image, holding Athamé with both hands, inner sides upwards.

i'll do it by saying as i sit & offer:

'i offer this Athamé Tool to Buddha, for sake of Universal Enlightenment.
i offer this Athamé Tool to Godess, for sake of Mutual Protection & Better Relations.'

this concludes this workshop on Tool Consecration.
