cantankerous whisp of a goose: SMUDGING is reserved for natives. So if it’s called a smudge stick it’s just buzz words trying to make money in shady ways (or uneducated ways). Smoke cleansing is open so you can have sage incense for sure but even then it’s best to source it from ethical places or places you know the money will be going to native peoples

Attentus: i am just trying to understand purification/consecration/charging rite for wand/athame/chalice & pentacle. smudgestick word was used in description of procedure that does it, in a book: 'Witch Crafting' by Phyllis Curott. 🙂

666.000.888.: Smudging and Smoke Cleansing are used interchangeably very frequently. Yes sage smoke can be considered incense like Cantan said smudging is a different ritual though

Procedure.

For Athamé, Chalice, Wand & Pentacle Purification/Consecration/Charging I'll use 'procedure' described in the book: 'Witch Crafting' by Phyllis Curott. It is allowed to use any meditation in the 'Grounding and Centering' part, so i'll use a Simple form of Buddhist Meditation on Breath, (imagining and counting (from 1 to 10 and again ...) breaths as they enter, remain in, and leave one's body, practiced in a half-lotus position, this time.) :)



Why Mediation on Breath?

For two reasons:

1. It's simple and versatile practice.
2. When I've roleplayed a Sorcerer named: 'Attentus', I've used to play him meditating on breath in Zazen position. Not sure whether he imagined or only counted breaths though. Now I am styling myself to be like him to some degree, both in internal and external way. It's a part of Art Style i am creating, named: 'Art of Magick & Light'.


If I remember correctly, I've got this meditation practice (Meditation on Breath) from the book: 'The Three Pillars of Zen' by Roshi Kapleau, and this was before I took refuge in Buddha, Sangha, Dharma & Lama Ole Nydahl. Refuge is initiation into Buddhism, after taking refuge one becomes officially a Buddhist.


I am mostly a Karma Kagyu buddhist (In Lama Ole Nydahl's buddhist community), but i've visited Zen Buddhist Center as well. (ZBZ Bodhidharma in Falenica near Warsaw/Poland).


Timing.

I should Purify, Consecrate & Charge the Altar Tools (Athamé, Chalice, Wand & Pentacle) on next New Moon (about 30 December 2024). Or perhaps just after the new year (1 January 2025).


Tools.

For Athamé, Chalice, Wand & Pentacle Purifying/Consecration/Charging I've bought:
- White Sage Smudge Stick Bundle 10cm,
- Smudge Stick Holder Bowl.

Other neccessary tools I already have, no need to buy more.

A Request.

A while ago i've asked Thelema group via the Internet to empower my magickal tools, mentioned they can benefit from this as well.

For a while this post was blocked, then it was revealed to the whole group.


Wish fulfilled, Deal Made.

Today's early morning got insights telling me that Thelema started to fulfill my wish, to gain advantage.

Soon after i took refuge in Lama Ole Nydahl again, to ensure i won't lose my Way.

Then insights told me that a Witch from Thelema ranks will help me, will see to my tools empowerment - then later i'll use these to protect her & her own, as well.

i've agreed to this deal, on condition that it won't harm my Loved one & our family, our friends, Enlightend Love as a Way for Enlightenment, etc ...

Then i've lit my Black Candle, Protection Invocation Candle on my Magickal Altar.

More Magickal Tools.

After completing the Basic Tarot Tools path & completing the tools, i've got the insights for more.

i am beginner again, on more advanced path ... that will use old tools as well.


i've ordered following:

1. A Spellbook.



It's Magical Theory & Spellbook by Judika Illes, a famous Witch who had public speech during a recent Templefest in the Temple of Witchcraft in Salem, England. Salem is a famous town for Witch Trials in the past.

It's not only a list of spells, it's also about how to create own spells.


2. A Packet of 10 Antique Tibetan Silver Dragonfly Charms.



i've met on the street Karolina Boboli again, important young Buddhist of our Sangha.

Soon after had insights that we need more of Magick, and that Dragonfly Magick will awaken in me for the Queen of Bhutan soon.

It's not first insight in this regard, had similar years ago.

I've ordered 10 very cheap Dragonfly Charms of Tibetan Silver as well. These have different style than my usual gothic, but it's good lesson for me.

3. Wiccan Book of Shadows.



Protects the Witch's Wisdom, Rites & Spells, from magickal attacks & spying as well.

Even if it's a Buddhist Witch in a male form as i.

(Closing the latch is an Act of Will, a Spell-Rite as well).

Should be hidden deep.


4. Triple Moon Guardian Pentacle Pendant.



It's symbolism is both simple, elegant & enough.

- Heart for Love, Feelings & Will,
- Fiery Godess for Love, Wisdom, Power, Style & more ... a Source of Light as well,
- Triple Moon for Moon's Wisdom, Reflection of Light & the Source of Magickal Power; The Central Moon's Purple Moonstone adds the Depth, Mysticism, Spirituality, Sex, Style, Power, the Noble Intent as well,
- Wings represent Birds that Fly & See Far - of Ravens & Dragonflies as well. Flight is associated with High States of Mind, Spellcasting & Realization (Manifestation) of Rites & Spells,
- Woman's dress is a veil, is illusion & can be removed to see,
- Hood protects the head,
- Five Armed Star is the source of the Moon-Light, the Sun is a Star as well; it's a part of Pentacle's Protection & Wisdom as well; A star & a moon also light the worlds - for Godess Eyes, Dragonfly & Raven to see; Godess Radiance as well,
- Silver as Moon, shifts Protection's focus to Mind.

It's more 'active' pentacle than simple silver one as well, for more advanced magick-users.

It's focus on 'active defenses', Moon's Wisdom is imparted, then can be manifested (realized) in form of Rites or Spells - while keeping basic defenses of a Silver Pentacle as well.

Simpler Pentacle is more 'passive defense' & wisdom, worth to protect & keep nevertheless; Can be of silver as well - for we can have 'passive protection' in two ways at least as well. Hiding it deep in a drawer to protect for example, is also an Act of Will. Even hidden at home it adds to defenses for we own as we paid for it & have it still.

5. Raven Familiar Statue.



This Witches Familiar statue of the Raven is crafted in high-quality resin and stands 6 inches high. Great for the home or altar.

Ravens are known to see troubles, violence, feud, the battles & wars as well. Feed on meat & carrion as well.

Associated with Spirit, as it joins Elements & Genders, Mind Aspects as well.


2. Athamé.

Associated with the Element of Air, Thoughts Mind Aspect & a Masculine Gender.

Magickal Power (by Element): To Know.


3. Pentacle.

Associated with the Element of Earth, Thoughts Mind Aspect & a Feminine Gender.

Magickal Power (by Element): To be Silent.


4. Wand.

Associated with the Element of Fire, Feelings Mind Aspect & a Masculine Gender.

Magickal Power (by Element): To Will.


5. Chalice.

Associated with the Element of Water, Feelings Mind Aspect & a Feminine Gender.

Magickal Power (by Element): To Dare.

according to this, there's observation:
- Wind (Air) & Fire are male aspects, these also might represent soldiers with weapons (sword instead of athamé) under the general with it's attributes (scepter instead of wand),
- Water & Earth are female aspects, together these are mud in which Lotus Flower grows, perhaps?

on the other hand, we can argue that it's tool that has gender associated, not element itself.

both Athamé & Wand are straight, male ... both Pentacle & Chalice are circle-shaped, female.


... but, why bother with these considerations?

it has uses in Arts, if You care enough to say something well.
