A Book of Shadows.

A Wiccan Pentagram Book of Shadows.

'A Book of Shadows is a personalized, handwritten book containing a witch's spells, rituals and wisdom. No two will be identical. The magical book passed down from generation to generation in the Halliwell family figured so prominently in the television series Charmed is an example of a Book of Shadows.

The concept underlying the Book of Shadows is that for centuries, people practicing witchcraft and/or Pagan religions were persecuted, and practices had to be kept secret, for safety's sake. (The Inquisition did not distinguish between witchcraft and Pagan religions, but equated the two.) Possession of any kind of magical or Pagan text could be grounds for conviction of witchcraft. The name 'Book of Shadows' refers to the necessity of keeping these books safely hidden in the shadows, rather than out in plain sight.

This concept is extremely controversial. Some believe the Book of Shadows tradition to be genuinely ancient. Others are convinced that the concept was invented by Gerald Gardner. For some people, that's irrelevant: Books of Shadows are beautiful and powerful, regardless of when the concept emerged. Still others believe that if Gardner invented the tradition, then it is inauthentic.

No ancient Books of Shadows have yet been discovered, although this in itself does not prove that the tradition is not old. When accused witches were killed, it was customary for any books they owned to be confiscated and burned. According to 17th-century Venetian Inquisition records, a woman named Laura Malpero was charged with witchcraft. When her home was searched, a copy of the banned grimoire The Key of Solomon was discovered along with a private, hand-written book of spells and rituals into which Laura had copied parts of that famous grimoire. Laura's book, which was destroyed, fits the definition of a Book of Shadows.'

Inkubus Sukkubus - Church of Madness.

Inkubus Sukkubus - Church of Madness.

History likes to repeat itself.

By criticizing errors of the past, we prevent them from reappearing in present & in future.

There are those who try to recreate historical events, fighting for future .... criticism can empower or stop them.

i think this Art is not only the Critic, but also the Spell, the Powerful Black Magick Spell that Protects.

It's still far more beneficial than harmful as it protects against violence, pain & abuses.

i try & i'll try to use it responsibly - if neccessary often enough.

i think inquisition - including modern inquisition - is danger not only to witches, but also to buddhism & other people as well.

... i think inquisition makes witches & others behave at least - without them, many would be too lazy ... and degrade to disgrace too much. i do not wish to kill inquisition, because of that.

Mysticism, Spells & Rituals.

Mysticism.

'The mystery religions developed and prospered during the time of Alexander the Great, when much of the known world, including Egypt and Persia, was becoming Hellenized.

Mystery religions became popular as people grew tired of the moral decay that resulted from the cold materialism and abstract rationalism of the philosophers.

People wanted and needed to believe in the gods again - not just the passive, state-sanctioned veneration of the traditional gods, but an active religious participation that would deeply touch the emotional lives of worshippers. The mystery religions satisfied this need.

Coinciding with the popular worship of the deities, there were secret initiatory ceremonies that were attended by a privileged few.

The Greek word mysteria or 'mysteries,' implied private or secret rites that were not intended for the general public.

(...)

The Greeks held that there were three types of knowledge: mathesis or knowledge that could be learned, gnosis or knowledge that could be gained through meditation or intuitive perception, and pathesis or knowledge that was felt.

The mystery religions tried to instill enlightenment through all three, but especially through pathesis, by supplying the initiate the opportunity for direct personal experience of the higher teachings. They promised a transcendent type of experience or spiritual ecstasy that was lacking in the more popular forms of state-sponsored worship.'

-- Quoted from 'The Essential Golden Dawn' by Chic Cicero and Sandra Tabatha Cicero.

This blog's author thinks that mysticism in his case is mostly insights, thoughts & feelings experiences caused mostly by meditations he participated in.

Spells.

This blog's author thinks that an 'Act of Magick', a Spell is a Speech with Universe, using the symbols & magickal meanings as arguments - that result in a change according to will.

Rituals.

'A formalized ceremony including a series of actions, physical as well as mental, that results in the release of magical energy and the fulfillment of a specific objective'.

-- Quoted from 'The Essential Golden Dawn' by Chic Cicero and Sandra Tabatha Cicero.

This blog's author thinks that a Ritual is more advanced & developed Spell - many rituals are spells that are practiced for long time, perfected & developed into a whole ceremonies.

About Magick & Magicians.

David Griffin,
Rosicrucian Imperator of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn.

Low & High Magick.

Just some thoughts about reasons for magick & it's types.

A one way of categorizing magick is like with Maslov's Pyramid of Needs,

Low Magick is especially useful for fulfilling low, basic needs - for food, for money, for company, for protection - for example. This blog's author also studies Witchcraft/Wicca for these practical reasons - mostly from a famous Witch's - Judika Illes' books, as seems wise - for now at least.

High Magick - for example the Golden Dawn's Rituals - is useful when the lower needs are fulfilled - to transform consciousness, develop one's energetic body, to become someone better, more powerful & meaningful spiritually.

i read that the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn is protecting people against Daesh (also known as ISIS terrorist organization, but Isis is also egyptian godess - so prefer to use word Daesh for them). It's chivalrous to protect women endangered by Islam's Terror as well.

This blog's autor's approach.

i wish to study both Low & High Magick concurrently, as well as Buddhism.

For low magick i wish to study Gardnerian Wicca/Witchcraft, as well as Houdoun Voodoo - but i prefer to use words: 'Practical Arts' instead of 'Low Magick' - mostly as a form of respect. My goal is to have quick, practical but still ambitious start into the esoteric way.

i think that way i'll help more beings faster - both young and old. it's most important for helping older, more powerful beings - so my magicks can blossom faster (as a black lotus, metaphorically) and be useful for them as well, before they die. As i'll serve & help them, i'll learn as well, i think.

i think both practical as well as ambitious systems of magick can be compatible, can be integrated with a proper understanding & a proper effort.

i think that solely low magick practicioneers stand no chance to those who combine low magick with high magick & integrate these into an a united, coherent system. How? These people can have many younger assistants who mature in esoterics fast, for example - to counter low magick threats against older. Their own wisdom, experience, skill & power counts still, as well.

i think i'll find my way, my way of the 'Art of Magick & Light' - both practical & ambitious, both low & high, both buddhist & esoteric, both mysticism, rituals & spells - even if i understand very little as of yet.

Honoring the Old.

Madame Helena Blavatsky.

Introduction.

A waning moon is the time when ancestors & old people should be honored & revered.

While reading 'The Essential Golden Dawn' book by Chic Cicero and Sandra Tabatha Cicero, i found a note about one of Golden Dawn's precursors - about Madame Helena Blavatsky.

Madame Helena Blavatsky.

Helena Petrovna Blavatsky (1831 – 1891) was a Russian occultist, spirit medium, and author who co-founded the Theosophical Society in 1875. She gained an international following as the leading theoretician of Theosophy, the esoteric movement that the society promoted.

Later in her life, she did 'officially convert to Buddhism'.

The Golden Dawn.

After Theosophical Society's turn to eastern mysticism, the Esoteric Order of the Golden Dawn was founded by Dr. W. Wynn Wescott, Samuel Liddell Mathers and Dr. William Robert Woodman in a year 1888, in a turn back to the Western Occultism.

A Power Protection Rite.

Introduction.

On a hunch of suspiciousness, i did call a 'Raven's Eyes' power then had insights that warned me about people associated with Catholic Church that i know.

Insights warned me that these people wish to steal our power (magickal & dharmic energies mostly, but not only) from me & from familiar buddhists to use against our common foes - they plan this to happen after new year when holidays end.

Their reasoning is that this power is 'too expensive', so they wanted just to steal it instead of 'paying' with prayers, services, good deeds etc.

A Rite.

Did a small magickal rite to protect Blady Kris - a Buddhist Artist - as well as other involved people from power stealing & other dangers, more or less.

Did this using the four steps of spell casting:
1. Stated my goal in mind,
2. Did choose tools - a protection invocation candle & a pentacle.
3. Visualized (Imagined) steps to proceed with: put a pentacle next to candle, with it's leather cord around the protection invocation candle, then light a candle using a cigarette lighter. imagined flame arising as well.
4. Engaged my energy & will - followed with steps as planned & visualized.

After a while took a photo, then a while later blew a candle flame off.

Later noticed that a pentacle is facing downwards, not upwards as planned - but this is not a disaster yet, for the Fiery Radiant Godess of the pentacle 'kissess the silent earth' that way, helping magick to manifest a rite in Malkuth - one of the ten emanations in the Qabalistic Tree of Life, as well as accenting Protection aspect of the Pentacle associated with the Earth element.

Concerning Golden Dawn's Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram.

Introduction.

'The initiation ceremonies of the Golden Dawn are certainly among the most powerful rituals created for the Order systems.

However, the Fist or Outer Order of the Golden Dawn was designed to be a school where students learned the ABCs of magic before performing practical magic. Traditionally, only one magical ritual was ever given to Outer Order students for their own personal use - the Lesser Ritual of the Pentagram. There are two forms of this ritual, one for invoking energies and one for banishing.

Respectively, they are Lesser Invoking Ritual of the Pentagram (LIRP) and the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram (LBRP). A banishing ritual is designed to get rid of unwanted spiritual energies. It is often performed as a prelude to more complex ritual, to 'clear' the area before-hand.

An invoking ritual has the opposite effect - it is designed to call for spiritual forces into the temple space.

The Golden Dawn manuscripts advocate performing the invoking form of this ritual in the morning and the banishing form at night.

However, we feel that the beginning student needs to concentrate solely on the banishing form for a period of a few months, since beginners have a tendency to light up on the astral and unknowingly attract all manner of elementals and low levels of astral energies.

Also, it is far more important to know how to banish rather than to invoke. Anyone can attract low spiritual energies. Getting rid of the same can be more difficult.

The Lesser Ritual of the Pentagram opens and closes with the Qabalistic Cross, a simple rite that can be considered a complete ritual by itself.'

-- Quoted from 'The Essential Golden Dawn. An Introduction to High Magic' by Chic Cicero and Sandra Tabatha Cicero.

Concerns.

i won't quote whole Lesser Ritual of the Pentagram, those interrested should buy the book instead.

This blog's author main concernt is with LBRP - i do not want to banish too much.

i wish to keep beneficial Buddhist energies, as well as other beneficial Esoteric Energies - mostly Gardnerian Wicca's, Witchcraft's, Houdoun Voodoo's.

Other spiritual energies can & should be gone i think - to not interfere, perhaps more as well.

Thankfully the Imperator of the Golden Dawn - David Griffin - asked a community for concerns in preparation for a free Spellworking webinar course that is planned to occur soon probably.

i've shared my concerns, in shorter form - perhaps these will be addressed openly, for all students, or perhaps in a form of insights, thoughts appearing in mind, in a form of secret lessons.

Mantras / Spells.

Invoking Moon.

Introduction.

... had insights.

TAROT tools can counter TAROT tools, even passively - by just owning equal or larger amounts & willing them to work that way for a given amount of time - that's how casters groups can counter other groups.

This is more efficient when done skillfully, for example by taking advantage of a Zodiac Signs, Holidays or a Moon Phases.

Under a skilled leader, a less of trained & well equipped numbers can defeat many more, especially if they have power & morale.

Invoking a Moon.

What if a desired Moon Phase is far away in time?

One can wait for a proper time, or invoke a moon phase using candle magick & hand movements to cover or to uncover a light.

Moving a hand above flame outwards - without touching flame or candle - is invoking a waxing moon, to an extent determined by how far a hand reaches - ranging from a nothing for a new moon, to full half-circle for a full moon.

Moving a hand above flame inwards works similar way, but invokes a waning moon.

More advanced tricks.

There are more advanced candle flame / moon movement tricks as well.

We can invoke a moment in past - to undo what was done before, for example.

We can invoke a moment in future as well, to call a Zodiac Sign, a Holiday or a Moon Phase, or to strenghten now what will complete in a future.

This has uses in all or almost all forms of Magick, i think - not only with the TAROT Tools.
