in magic there are four basic elements (fire, water, air, and earth) which are regarded as realms, kingdoms, or divisions of nature.
they are the basic modes of existence and action, and the building blocks of everything in the universe.
Spirit.
a fifth element, spirit, is said to bind together and govern the lesser four.
Ether.
a western term for akasa or spirit.
Akasa (or Akasha).
it's derived from a Sanskrit word meaning 'to Shine'.
... among Buddhists at least, Light is associated with Spirituality.
... there's also Shine meditation, related with Mind's Calming & Mind's Observation activities mostly ... on that way, it's written, supernatural powers are discovered.
Subtle Differencies.
... let's notice that different words might have almost the same meanings, but they are useful mostly within their contexts, within groups of people associated with certain thinking patterns. there are many subtle differencies to observe & related philosophies that might vary very much.
